2What you should know.Apr 21, 2008
There are a few things you should be aware of if you are going to purchase this item. First of all, the chair arrives in two boxes. If you are not handy, you will have to have someone put it together for you.

Second thing to be aware of is that the recliner handle is made of plastic, not metal and not wood. I fear that it's only a matter of time before the thing snaps off. As I used it recline I felt the tension on the handle within the first few pulls. Not a good sign at all.

Third thing to know is that it's REALLY quite a feat to raise and lower the chair from upright to reclining. If you are purchasing this chair for an older or possibly disabled person, choose another chair. The joints/springs are quite stiff and they will require assistance in getting the chair back upright. Fiddling with the stupid handle as you try to raise the chair was more than a notion. In addition, the arms will not provide adequate assistance when they stand up.

Now if you are younger or in reasonably good shape you won't have "problems" with this chair per se but it's certainly not the smoothest movements I've witnessed with recliners. Maybe this will come with time as the joints loosen up. Maybe not.

For the good part, the chair is BEAUTIFUL!! It's even better looking than the picture. It's extremely comfortable for sitting, rocking and even stretching back. Feels like a pillow, not too soft, not too hard. It's just right. Everything seems to be of good quality (except the handle that is).

I would say consider the customer when purchasing this item. If you don't mind putting it together, and a bit of fuss to work the thing and a questionable handle, then you won't be disappointed. This chair is a gorgeous rocker or a stunning room piece but a frustrating recliner.

Why don't I just return it you ask? Because I have someone else who wants to purchase it from me and I don't want to deal with the shipping issue.

I hope this was helpful.
